Pip is a timer app by Callan Watkins (“I”). The short version: Pip doesn’t collect your data.

What stays on your iPhone

Your timers and chains, settings, finished-timer history, stickers and buddies you’ve earned, and the name you give Pip are saved on your iPhone only (in Pip’s own storage and an App Group container shared with Pip’s widgets). I can’t see them.

Your name

If you give Pip a name, it is stored only on your iPhone. Pip uses it to say hello and, if you allow it, in alert titles (for example “Tea is done, Callan”). You can change or remove it in Settings. It is never sent anywhere.

What Pip does not do

  • No accounts or sign-in.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking, and no third-party SDKs.
  • No network connections of its own: Pip doesn’t send anything anywhere.
  • Pip doesn’t sell or share information, because it never receives any.

Microphone and speech recognition

If you tap the microphone button in New timer, Pip asks for microphone and speech-recognition permission. Your voice is turned into text on your iPhone while the button is on and is used only to fill in timer steps. Pip does not record, save or send audio or transcripts. You can use Pip fully without these permissions.

Alarms and notifications

Pip uses iOS alarms and, if you choose, ordinary notifications to alert you when a timer ends. iOS schedules these on your device, and their text stays on your device.

Pip Pro (optional subscription)

Pip Pro is an optional auto-renewing monthly subscription sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and your Apple Account details; I never see your payment information and Pip doesn’t collect purchase data. Pip only learns, on your iPhone, whether your subscription is currently active. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings (Subscriptions).

Export and sharing

You can export your timers, settings, earned stickers and history to a file you choose, and import it later. The file goes only where you save or share it. Running timers and alarm identifiers are never exported. If you share a sticker, Pip makes a picture of that sticker on your device and hands it to the iOS share sheet; it contains no timer data.

Deleting your data

Settings → Reset Pip cancels Pip’s alarms and notifications and deletes all of Pip’s data on your iPhone. Deleting the app also removes it.

Children

Pip collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
